Beautiful Black Hills, SD
Crazy Horse, still under construction--guess I'll miss the completed monument. I estimate another 50 years (there are 11 men, currently working full time) with a few more summer part-timers. Some people feed donkeys, others see the Monuments.

I was at Crazy Horse 5 years ago and the opening wasn't there. Given the HUGE scope of the project and the fact that they are not receiving any government or corporate funding, i am amazed that that much progress has been made.

$11 a person entry plus masses of touristy trinkets, food etc, it's more of a commercial venture.
Having said that the historical exhibits and the movie were very interesting and edifying.
Going to see it up close today in a whirlybird along with Mt Rushmore and Black Hills

Not to sure about it being completed in 50 years. It has been in the works now for over 60 years. Started around 1948
==============================
If'n y'all have not done it yet I highly recommend a drive from Custer SP up Hwy SD 87, the Needles Highway. Only in the TOAD though.

Yes, it will take many years, but IMHO--no problem that it is not a Federal tax funded project. They need to talk some of the Silicon Valley Socialists Billionaires into funding the whole project (more worthwhile than their trying to "guide" America's future.

I have a hand crank and always have one of my kitchen aids in the RV. You can use mine all you want. It's a permanent fixture in there lol.

Hopin' y'all gonna put some heavy duty piers under this "deer stand" so it don't end up like the other one.

Steve - - I meant to commend you on listening to the voice of reason coming from your inner self concerning the surgery and your decision to wait for a later date to visit the beautiful northeast area of Canada.
BTW - how is Annie doing nowadays?
We could sneak your way for 2 - 3 days following the 4th of July. We need to talk. Nothin' fancy just talk, talk, eating out, and more talk. Of yea, maybe a fake campfire.

Hey there Patricia and Vince!
The last time we were at Crazy Horse was 1975. It was our very first family camping trip away from Minnesota. Just the 4 of us!
We had a popup behind our 65 Malibu, and it was simple; canvas on wheels!
Kids liked Rushmore and Crazy Horse, but the donkeys were tops with them!
