'Nother half gallon of BB picked & washed. Now the joy of the day: giving oral antibiotic to the post-surgical cat. She's no dummy either & knows what's coming. Eeek! Poor Tikka.

We took afternoon tea in Florence today ... the only electricity we had. Except for its being stuck in the shed, it was quite pleasant to be there again. We could almost have been on the road. 🙄

'Night all!

For my 39th birthday my DD gave me a lovely decanter filled with red Oklahoma dirt. The attached tag read "The only thing as old as you, Mom".

That was the last year we exchanged presents.

Don't worry. I didn't tell them about the time you streaked the playoff football game.

Congratulations to Annie especially for putting up with him for so long. I hope the knot she tied in the rope to lead him around is a strong one.

It sounds like making you laugh with a mouthful of coffee could cause a disaster of epic proportions.

Happy anniversary you two! I never knew that the second anniversary gift was stents.

Well that adds a whole new wrinkle to our journey! Oh Jackie, first question when we meet will be, just how do you know about this camp?

Barb when you've got some good OK dirt in a decanter, what else do you need!

My DS and I exchange snippy cards for our birthdays. I currently hold the title for one that had gigantic redwoods on the front and a nice little write up about how beautiful they were. When you opened it up it said, "thank you so much for planting them."

Congratulations you guys. I haven't met you yet, but from what I have read so far, Steve is one lucky guy.

I love cards like that, pretty much the only kind I get - joke ones, not necessarily always snippy, but that one is classic!

Do ya still have it?
When my mum died, a year or so after, Bob and I went to Connecticut and visited her relatives we used to go see on summer vacations every so often, and while I was there, I filled a shoe box with some of the soil from the area she was born at and then stopped at the cemetery back in Kansas on our way home and sprinkled it over her grave so she'd be buried at least in part under Connecticut soil. I don't know why I felt compelled to do that, I just did, so I did it.Before she graduated from Nurses training and married my dad, she had never been more than 100 miles from her home, and never had used an outhouse (which his parents still used at the farm). I just remember how that sank in when I visited as an adult and her cousin took me around the places they played and did things at when they were children/young adults. Growing up in the plains of Kansas, I can't imagine not ever being able to look out over land and at least see a mile away or 5 miles....
