On the road again

Sitting in a KOA near Hagerstown, MD. Drove a mere 554 miles today on I70, I79, I 68, and I70 again. When you have a destination you focus on, the journey can get a bit muddled. Our calculator says we got 10.55 mpg while climbing long slopes over the mini mountains of the East.

Tomorrow we probably won't leave camp until close to 1:00 pm since we are going to Antietam battlefield in the early morning. You can bet I'm geeked for that experience. Bloodiest single day in the Civil War with hand-to-hand combat in full grown corn fields. Unbelievable bravery and unimaginable suffering and sacrifice.

We have a hotspot that we increase and decrease monthly data availability as needed. Works 183 times better that the feeble wifi here at the campground. Can zero service be cheap enough?

Safe travels to you all.

So cool Steve. That's totally on my bucket list. And you're right about the bravery and incredible sacrifice all those who fought in that war gave. Sure wished more folks recognized that in todays climate.

So even KOA is emailing me reminders of what we're missing. Oh the humanity.

And then there's this from the Poobah (Not to be confused with a Poonah.)

High and Low Tide is only 25 feet. Only.

When I was younger, I lived in Lordship, a part of Stratford CT. It was within walking distance to the shoreline and I'd go there practically every day to run the dog for exercise. Scenes like that are embedded deeply in my memories. I still go back to that beach every once in a while.

Ok, time for a weird tidbit about this post. When I first read it my mind heard Hershey Carousel Museum. Then I scrolled thru the pictures and saw the brownish horse in progress and of course I figured it was being carved from a huge block of milk chocolate.

A mind is a terrible thing when it starts to waste away.

After a week with just us and Dave and now a second week with Richard and Ann I almost had Dave acting right!

Then this happened

Don't worry mutants, the park service said they have to get people's heads unstuck all the time, just not any this old!
Ps. I suggested they just fire the cannon!

I felt like I was back at w&$k, trying to be politically correct.
Thought I spied Willy Wonka, but it was just Wonkie Tim.
