Oh man, there's a long story there. I'll probably post a new thread describing what I did. The short story is - last weekend I started, took the bottom stair off and started working on getting the old paint/rust off. Txt'd my nephew saying (jokingly), if he had a sand blaster and he goes, yea, brand new in the box. So that sent me down this rabbit hole where I wound up spending more time and money on that project than I will ever admit to. It was worthless in terms of getting the old paint off. Today used paint remover on the step I'm working on and that seems to be doing the trick. Once I get the old stuff off I'm going to prime and then redo the black and put a nice anti-skid pad on it, etc.

We are 418 miles from home. Yesterday we did 395 and Earlene said never again. I don't know what the problem was as I was driving. (Oh! Never mind.)

One more RV park to go and then we will be home Tuesday. It has been a nice 4 months on the road.

Y'all come on down and see us.

Di and Larry - - It's great to hear that you're doing well. Hope you have excellent memories of America's Midwest.

Wayne and Earlene - - We've followed your traveling adventures. Sounds like you enjoyed 99% of your travels. BTW - - on our trip to LegoLand in Florida with the grandsons, we covered over 500 miles each day on 4 separate days. Had no problem sleeping each of those nights. We were on a self-caused tight schedule before the boys had to start school. It was worth the effort.

A question for my techie brothers and sisters. In Florida and Georgia we sat through 2 separate nights of typhoon rains (probably 4+ inches of rain each night). We had drips and drops from 8 or 10 separate locations in the kitchen and bathroom (probably originating from 2 separate leaks or pools on the roof). In Indiana our motorhome has experienced 2 separate downpours of perhaps 3/4" of rain each night. Guess what. NO DRIPS anywhere. Whatsup?

Steve... I believe the Indiana / Illinois raindrops are just bigger. (Actually, I have no idea.)

Welcome back Di and Larry. Looking forward to more pics of your journey.

Wayne - Annie saw she missed calls from Earlene. Her phone was on the charger.

Today I booked us a week at our usual stay at what's becoming our open range stop in Pueblo West. Not much too it but we like it.

We follow that with a night in Raton and a week at Santa Fe Skies, and week at USA RV Park in Gallup. That takes us out to Oct 4th.

So I'm beginning to look at our AZ time and places. I haven't fully considered Dave's ponder on the Escapees thing. For now I suspect we'll be in Phoenix area in Nov and Dec since we have friends and my cousin there. Other than that I don't know. Anyone with a better AZ plan - chime in... and Steve - we will miss you and Mary Ann.

Be safe and happy mutants. It's supper time in Limon.

Steve, I don't know how in he world you can do 500 miles a day. I do understand how well you slept each night after the drive. How may hours for 500 miles? Do you stop and rest along the way? I know you have to stop for potty breaks. Mary Ann and the children just get up and go whenever they want.

Aw come on, the truth is that Annie doesn't want to speak to Earlene.

Hey, when you do I-25S and go over the Raton Pass, let me know how it was. It is one of the reasons I took 50 East out of Pueblo.

I suspect the direction of the rain itself. Unless the intensity and/or volumes were different.

Raton Pass is a piece of cake either direction. Did it northbound in the drizzle in April with a wimpy wiper. It really is just fine.

And actually, Annie enjoys to Earlene. It's me and you she doesn't much care for... lol.
