I have a Norcold Refrigerator Model# N822RT in my new motorhome. In my last motorhome ref I had an old computer fan hooked up to work off the door light switch so it would run when the door was shut and stop when it is opened. The light in the Norcold must be controlled by a magnetic door switch as I can not find it to hook a fan up in the new one. Any one done this or have any idea where the switch may be at before I tear this thing apart? I sure liked all the features in the Dometic a lot better.

Camping World sells a fridge fan that operates on a D cell battery. We purchased one for about $12 and it really makes a difference in cooling time on start up.

I can not help you with the Norcold question. What I have done is the battery fan mentioned in a previous post for inside the refer and a 12V fan in the chimney of the refer. The chimney fan is controled by two thermistors and works as advertised. Camping World sells both these fans.

On the Norcold fridges the light switch will not work unless the fridge is on. If the fridge is turned off that switch is dead. Since you know the model number of your fridge go to Bryant Rv, then to the service documents section and you can download the complete service manual for your fridge. The wiring diagrams in the manual may be of some help to you.

I have one of the little blue cube shaped fans, that runs on 2 D batteries. I just position it so it circulates air past the fins, and it does a good job of keeping things more even and cool.

It seems to run for weeks on a pair of batteries, and I only find it necessary in hotter weather.

I think if I were going to add a 12v fan (which sounds like a good idea) I think I'd just run an inline fuse off the 12v supply of the fridge, and put a switch with the fan assembly inside the fridge so you can just turn it on when needed... Unless you really wanted the fan to shut off when the door is open...
