Actually movie ratings, as we know them, were first used in 1968. Broadcast TV began sometime in the 40's. The BBC began in the mid 30's.

remember when havning aspirin in your locker at school was absolutely a non issue? When airlines served peanuts? remember rotary dial phones? They actually rang. Bells.

Phones don't ring any more.

I liked lunches at school (when I didn't bring my own). The cafeteria made complete fresh meals every day...you just paid your .50 cents and lined up with your tray. Spaghetti day was one of my favorites and I always went back for seconds.

Thanks for all the memories everybody!

Hayes code, 1930 - 1968.

but,, point being, films were not 'clean' by choice as the quote suggested. It was regulated.

I guess I belong to the older than dirt crowd! Maybe that's why DW takes the broom to me.

Butch wax. That was before Pomade, I think, but after Brylcreem!

Remember..
"Brylcreem, a little dab'll do ya,
Brylcreem, you'll look so debonair.
Brylcreem, the girls'll all run to ya....
they love to run their fingers through your hair...."

Oh man. That stuff was pure DA grease.

You DO remember DA's, right?

You forgot the iceman delivering ice, the scissor sharpening man house to house and getting your picture taken on a pony in your yard. My brothers used to follow the milkman and clean up after the horses. I've google earthed that house and my eyes get moist as I'm the last one standing.

In the early 60's we got a McDonald's in our town (Towson, MD). I remember my mother would take me there as a TREAT if I was a good boy at the dentist. ( had some major dental problems as a boy). Every time I eat a Filet 'o Fish today I always find myself chewing on one side of my mouth because the other side was always numb.
Hamburgers were .15 cents, cheeseburgers were .20. There were no Big Macs.

Speaking of fast food, remember when Burger King's 'Have it your way' meant they had a Fix'ins Bar wit all the trimmings?
