Word from a major truck company driver that they have just received a notice that any contractor company drivers seen visiting or parking trucks at any disreputable business must be terminated immediately, or the trucking company's contracts with WalMart will be cancelled.

Next thing is that they won't be allowed to carry loads for other retailers..

Anybody else hear anything about this???

If I owned a fleet of trucks with my company name plastered on the side... I would NOT want those trucks to be seen parked a "Rose's" in Pahrump, NV., or at the "Adult Toy & Video Store" here in Vegas. I would also say I wouldn't be happy about one of my trucks parked at a competitors store.. but Wall-mart doesn't really have any competitors.

My guess is it would be parking the Wal-Mart labeled trucks driven by Contract Drivers in those kinds of places where you get a massage (not the therapeutic kind) or sell adult entertainment of various sorts!

My guess, if their names on the trucks and their paying the tab, they get to set the rules.

I don't disagree with the intent, and I also would not want my trucks or people seen at such places. However, I do wonder about Walmart being able to dictate to their contractors, and wonder if this is just the first shot. It is one thing for Walmart to be able to try dictating what products we buy, but for myself, I have the choice of shopping elsewhere. For many vendors and contractors such as transportation companies, most have to struggle for what they can get.

If it was just the Walmart labeled trucks, that would be one thing, but I understand that it is ANY of the contractors trucks, with or without a trailer of any brand. Walmart does have some of the best drivers and transport people available, and does a great transport job. I do appreciate the effort they show to maintain a great number of workers and drivers, although in this case, they may be trying to extend their control too far.

I think "Cafe Risque" right off Interstate 75 in Micanopy, Florida would probably fit their description. You can't miss dozens of the 'We Bare All" billboards that are posted 100 miles north or south of the exit.

The only billboards more annoying are for South of The Border.

The one with the money sets the rules. No-one is forced to sign an unreasonable contract though.

I was told those kinds of places have great food. I thought that's what the truckers were stopping there for.

Ah, Good 'Ol I-75....if it isn't a "Cafe Risque" billboard it's one of hundreds about "Your Official Disney Ticket Outlet"--next exit
