Bamaman,
I agree as to you just don't know. My wife has an elderly friend who's husband has Alzheimer and is a rapid decline, they do have long term care insurance but the premiums are going up fast and her friend doesn't know what to do. Tough position for sure.

I read an article today stating that the Medicare Hospital fund will be depleted by 2026. I know there is a push to both reduce benefits and increase premiums. Time will tell.
In the mean time I think it is better to have a financial model with best estimates then nothing at all. I update my spreadsheet monthly with the best information I have.

Late wife and I both had/have Plan F. She had liver cancer and each chemo embolization treatment cost about $71,000. We paid somewhere around $2,000 for each. She got a liver transplant and died. I paid less than $20 for the final bill
I kept my Plan F!

I xferred from VA to Medicare last year and because I knew I had to have a not-insignificant surgery + long term care on two chronic issues I went with Plan F, too. not only did it minimize my costs on $100k surgery, it allows docs in my area who aren’t accepting new Medicare patients to take me and be compensated @ their rates.

Medicare and Plan F has been a blessing for our household.
