I bet he and Don Knotts have a big crowd of angels crowded around them laughing at their clean homegrown humor.

Even before Mayberry and Sheriff Andy Taylor, my first recollection of Andy Griffith was a scratchy old record that my parents would play of a story told by Andy Griffith. The title of the record was "What it Was, Was Football" and was a description of a football game by a country boy who had never seen one before. Perhaps I'm not alone in remembering this.

Andy Griffith took many of us back to a simpler (and, IMHO, better in many ways) America that we grew up in. He will be greatly missed. Godspeed, Andy.

An inspiration to those of us in law enforcement. R.I.P. Sheriff Taylor.

Sad day indeed, another great entertainer bits the dust. Too bad there are so few to replace them.

Touching obituary cartoon from The Charlotte Observer:
Andy Griffith | CharlotteObserver.com & The Charlotte Observer Newspaper

A good friend of mine is a big Andy fan and has a replica Mayberry Squad Car. I've ordered a print of the cartoon and am going to have it framed for his birthday later this month.
