Road safety in China

As per the 1st of January 2013, road safety laws in China will be tightened significantly.

From this day onwards you will only be allowed one child per bucket.

Please remember this when riding a scooter in this area.

On a trip to china four years ago, I saw this and others similar. Crazy. The buses were so crowded when we went by them, you could see childrens faces smashed on the glass from being smashed inside.

Geeze, when the kids were little we used to take them on my Honda 350. Daughter was in front of me on the tank and son was behind me with the wife on the rear of the seat.

I hope there's a child safety restraint inside the bucket.

Hm, let's see; 2 couples and 5 kids.
Looks like China's 1 kid per couple law is working too.

Talking about safety and a kid in a bucket!!! I have been to a campground where 2/3 of the campers own golf carts. They drive everywhere in the cart....adults, kids, overloaded carts, kids driving carts, kids holding a 1 or 2 year old in there lap without safety, adults holding on to a kid while smoking and driving, all day long. One day I saw at the same campground a little boy riding on the back seat be himself holding on to a small hand grip take a bounce and the kid fell off......good thing the older kid driving was not going to fast and stopped quickly after a scream from the little boy.
I can't believe how parents allow this to happen....

I spent 7 years working in Asia, 2 of them in China. That looks like a new record. The most I had seen was 7 on a bike.
