Robo Calls

Our land line and at times our cell phones continually receive stupid phone calls from somebody or something that is not even there when you decide to even answer the phone. If they are marketing something I would never even know what it is because nobody is on the other end of the line. Because of this going on for years we now do not even look at our phone when it rings and I am soon going to get rid of the land line permanently. We have the answering system and let it answer the nothing calls 100% of the time. Does anyone else receive these annoying phone calls?

Yup! It happens to all of us!

We finally got rid of the landline because about all the calls we got on it were telemarketer calls. Most of our family and friends call our cellphones.

We were on a national do-not-call list but they find ways around that too!

Like Joe, we too got rid of our land line...just didn't make sense keeping it especially with all the robo and scam calls.

As for our cell phones, we only answer an incoming call if we recognize the caller...if not, we let it go to voice mail. If they don't leave a voice mail, we then block that number from any future calls.

On our iPhone, we can go to any call that has come in and block the number so the phone won't even ring the next time they call.

We have found, however, companies frequently use call centers with multiple numbers for their sales calls so calls still get through. We tend to do like Ron and don't answer calls from numbers we don't recognize.

No land line here either, but I get them on my cell phone. I am on the national "do not call" service, but......... The call centers seem to place multiple calls at the same time to different numbers, and then if an operator is not on an active call they are to pick up when you answer. If no operator is available, then you have dead air.

Register your phones on the Do Not Call list

"Do Not Call" is worthless unless you are able to get the company's Name, Address, and Phone listing...then file a formal complaint to the FCC...and even then...
https://complaints.donotcall.gov/com...aintcheck.aspx
I tried and failed with a complaint. Good luck if you try it.

Another time, I asked the caller for this information and was promptly cursed-out

This is MUCH more effective:
https://www.nomorobo.com/

NoMoRobo uses "simultaneous ring" at your phone and their call center to check and disconnect any reported Telemarketer.
Not everyone's phone company offers "simultaneous ring" but it works GREAT and saved our landline from being disconnected.

Best luck

X1 for NOMOROBO! I haven't had a political call this year!

Oh, yeah - the do not call list worked for a short time and then went the way of the DoDo...nomorobo - one ring and *poof* - they are gone. Been on NOMOROBO for a year plus...

If, it is supported by your phone company. Of which I don't see many.

DW is on the National Liver Transplant list. When a liver becomes available they will call us, but they can't tell us what number the call might come from.
In the meantime I just block as many of the scam/solicitation calls as I can. Yep, been on the so called "do not call list" for years, it doesn't help at all. Even Kay Designers calls us repeatedly saying they're soliciting donations, if you say no then they try to sell you siding, windows etc! Put them on my permanently blocked list!

On the very few handful of occasions I've been able to get the information, the claims I filed with the FCC have gone unanswered.

I'm going to try the Nomorobo & will report back on its effectiveness.
