RVer Walking Across America for Colon Cancer

A few months ago, I saw a short article in the Good Sam magazine on Rick Hammersley, an RVer and colon cancer survivor who was walking across the US to drum up support of colon cancer research.

Well, 192 days later, he is still walking and is now in PA. His saint of a wife, Valda, has been driving the Bounder behind him for almost 7 MONTHS!

Near the end of October, Rick and his wife will be setting up camp in my driveway during the NJ section of their walk. Rick hopes to finish in Coney Island around Nov. 2. A truly long walk for a Nathan's hot dog...

i appreciate hearing that you are playing a role in helping him out by letting them camp at your place,
that is good of you,

Well Rick and his wife Valda pulled into our driveway with their Class C (Bounder is in storage until the walk is over) last Thursday for two days of much needed rest at 'Camp Tom and Katharine'!

My Boy Scouts walked a little over 10 miles with Rick on Sunday and had a great time.

Rick is on schedule to finish at Coney Island on Sunday although today is wet and SNOWY in NJ so I'm sure he is earning every mile...
