RVing with Flat Stanly

Our daughter lives is Salt Lake City, UT and we now have six (6) grandchildren. A few weeks back I received a letter form one of my two grand daughters. To my surprise was a cut out of a man she had colored in complete with a suit case. The letter was a bit funning and I had never seen anything like it. So I turned to my wife who knows every thing I don't (well). I found out there is a website called "The Flat Stanly Project" The idea is you take Mr. Stanly around with you taking pictures and writing a story as you go about the visit. Then you mail him back complete with stories, where by the student shows and read's the story in the class room. You will find this has been around for a while and on the web site are pictures with the Presidents, movie stars, historic sites and Motor homes. Funny little idea or project, but a lot of fun for both the sender and the grand parent who gets the visit. I felt you would like to know and get yourself ready for his or her visit to your RV.

I work in a school district and Flat Stanley is a very big deal with the kids who ship him off around the world and wait for his return. It's a cute book.

We had never heard of Flat Stanley until we walked in to the visitors center in Memphis with our own little travelling companion, Martybear. The lady in the visitors saw Martybear and asked us about him. We take him with us on our travels and photograph him whereever we stop at a place of interest. She's te one who told us about Flat Stanley.

Sounds like a great project, and a lot of fun.

Martybear can be found on our blog.

Who will be the first RVer to post a Pic on the web?

I was just looking at the web site Flat Stanly, however I found none in or near an RV, or a Motor Home. So who will be the first to post there RV with Flat Stanly on the Flat Stanly Project website. Funny.....

Our great niece's class did flat stanley earlier this year. She was very excited to show her classmates in Maine the flat stanley pictures from Charlotte. We took him to Panther stadium,Lowe's Motor Speedway,Concord Mills mall, a BBQ place not far from here and uptown! He had quite the day. We all had a blast!

We took Flat Stanley to Moab then on to Alaska with us in 2003. It was fun taking the photos and then sending them back to our grandson. Needless to say the whole project was fun and rewarding to both us and the grandson.
