I would call Bernardo Shores before heading that way. I read here that it was sold and the land was going to be developed.

I'd definitely call first. The rumor of condo development has been floating around since the first time we visited the park. I suspect it is just a matter of time before it happens.

San Diego RV Parks

I'll give you a list of the ones I have camped at most are at most 25 min from downtown and the airport and the MCRD. USMC Camp Pendleton is about 45 min away.

Coronado Shores
Lake Jennings
Sweetwater Lakes
Campland on the Bay (vary tight) $$
Metro KOA (on the border of San Diego & Chula Vista)
Santee Lakes
There are about 9 or 10 other RV parks in the area but I have not camped there. Many are private and have full timers living there.

Heard good things about some of the inland parks, like Santee Lakes, but in SD, I want the benefit of the proximity of the ocean. Bernardo Shores gives me that, plus so much more.
Just read an article in one of the RV Mags that Bernardo Shores is being levelled to make way for a new condo project.

Interesting info about Bernardo Shores. I was just across the street at my Dr's officer just last week. Looked great from where I stood. They did level the Motel (El Camino) that was right next door to it. Drove by this place for 30 yrs.
I will be down there again next Tuesday and will actually stop at the Resort and ask questions, then inform the forum members.

Bernardo Shores still is. We have a month's reservations starting in about a month. When I asked about booking for a month this July, I was told to inquire about that when I checked in.

If you have a dog be aware Bernado Shores does not accept dogs larger than 20 lbs. that's the only reason we've never stayed there.
