I was looking at my control panel here and saw the following:
"Your date of birth and age are displayed in several places on the forum. Only the administrator will have access to your date of birth should you choose to hide it via the privacy option below.
Please contact the Administrator if your date of birth has changed."
Pray tell how my date of birth would change? I would love to shave a few years off the broken down, old body.

My mother managed to get a sweet young boy at the DMV to add 2 years to her birthdate back in the 40s when she wanted to get into bars before she was 18. She had a heck of a time trying to fix it in her 30s when she didn't want to be older. Be careful what you wish for.

Why would she worry about it when she got older. It would have allowed her to collect Social Security two years earlier.
Personally, I don't care if people know how old I am (62). I've earned every one of the gray hairs I'm hiding.

I don't think so my Dad had a problem when he applied for Soc. Security....his Navy ID said his birthday in 1918 when actually it was in 1917
When they put his date of birth down in instead of 18Jul17 they put 17Jul18, when he went to do something with Social Security he had all kinds of problems

You would be surprised how many people enter the wrong date for their birthday.

Thank you LadyFitz. I was in a dire need of a good laugh. Will have to share this one with DW when she gets back to the house.

One way would be if you did not list a DOB when you signed up and wished to list it.
Another (Which I very highly recommend by the way) would be if you LIED and wished to change the lie, or conversely did not lie and wished to lie.
I usually lie about my DOB unless it is a place where it is required by law I tell the truth. (DMV/Bank/Employer et-al) I do not want my real DOB on the web. If some hacker got in and got all my personal info, they would thus be unable to steel my Identity as.. the DOB is simply WRONG.. (Of course this site does not have my SSN either, which makes it harder on the hackers)
I do not normally enter my DOB for other reasons as well but that is the reason easiest to explain.

I have no problem revealing my age but, for the reasons you mentioned, I do not give out my DOB.
