Gee what a surpise ! (/sarcasm)
Artifically contrived "disaster waiting to happen" supported by other alarmists who can't be bothered with the facts

For those of you more seasoned than myself, do you remember in the 1940s to 1970s the "global cooling" warning. I don't think it was as widespread as this, but scientists were claiming that we were in a cooling trend and we needed to prepare for the coming ice age. Here is a link Article about Newsweek article
My theory is that, as time goes on, we just have climate changes. You don't need a degree in meteorology, just to have lived a few years. Greenland actually used to be green. That is why it was named that by Erik the Red who found it and saw a lush green fertile valley perfect for settling. It is now frozen. That was in the 980s. Here is an excerpt of an article in Wikipedia about the History of Greenland. Note that it mentions that they were in a medieval warming period.
During the 980s, explorers from Iceland and Norway made the first European discoveries of mainland Greenland and, finding the land unpopulated, settled on the southwest coast. The name Greenland (Grænland in Old Norse and modern Icelandic, Grønland in modern Danish and Norwegian) has its roots in this colonization and is attributed to Erik the Red (the Inuit call it Kalaallit Nunaat, meaning "Land of the Kalaallit (Greenlanders)"). ...
At that time the inner regions of the long fjords where the settlements where located were very different from today. Excavations show that there were considerable birch woods with trees up to 4 to 6 meters in the area around the inner parts of the Tunuliarfik- and Aniaaq-fjords, the central area of the Eastern settlement, and the hills were grown with grass and willow brushes. This was due to the medieval climate optimum. The Norse soon changed the vegetation by cutting down the trees to use as building material and for heating and by extensive sheep and goat grazing during summer and winter. The climate in Greenland was much warmer during the first centuries of settlement but became increasingly colder in the 14th and 15th centuries with the approaching period of colder weather known as the Little Ice Age.
Just in studying the history of greenland, you see a warming trend enough to turn it very green and fertile in the south and then a "little ice age" that made it almost inhabitable and it is now covered in snow most of the year. (Note that it is still a little green in the very south part in the peak of summer.)
As a kid I remember Christmases in shorts in NOLA and then a couple of years ago it snowed and everything froze. Go figure.

The global warming scare is just a ploy by some people including the jerk Algore to fill their pockets with tax payer's money.
There have been many climate variations through the years. If it is indeed true that the planet has warmed one (1) degree in the last century, I don't think that is anything to be alarmed about, it's just surprising that it has not warmed more what with 6 billion people living today.

As a 40 year physicist and former researcher, I have yet to see any evidence based on the 'scientific method' which is a standardized method of formulating research and scientific studies. In fact, they (global warming proponents) meticulously avoid any such discussion.
The whole issue seems to be more of a religion (remember, many 'earth first' people believe that the true God is Gaia[sp?] and that this God of Earth is the true God) than a scientifically developed issue.
I have seen people crying and swooning at the discussions of warming which seems, to me, to be a belief system, not a scientific system.
The factual evidence just doesn't hold up under scientific scrutiny.
