Wayne, pass on our best wishes to the old salt when you talk to him again. DW doesn't post but she enjoyed reading all his posts. I too miss his ramblings and wish all goes well with him medically.

Thank you Wayne for the information. I, like the others, enjoyed all of his stories and his love for Willa. I have often wondered what became of him after he stopped posting. Tell him our prayers are with him and his hundreds of friends are worried and thinking about him.

This old G.I. wishes that sailor a speedy and full recovery with a minimum of discomfort. His spirited tales are definitely being missed..!

If you talk to Seajay again, tell him we'll always remember the kindly barmaid who gave him such excellent service.

And we hope his nurses are doing at least that well for him.

Thanks, Wayne. SeaJay, Here is wishing you a speedy recovery with a great outcome. I don't visit the forum as much as I once did because you're not around. Get well and God Bless.

Hi all,

Talked with Seajay last evening. He "sounds" in better spirits. I cannot imagine how it may feel to know that you may loose an extremity. Anyhow;

He is in Winston Salem and the Doctor stated that he can do another skin graft, and that it is quite common for a graft to behave the way Seajay's is doing. The doctor stated he can fix him. So that is good news.

It will be another two weeks before the new graft is performed. Say some more prayers that all turns out well.

God bless Seajay, and as Seajay would say, "GOD BLESS OUR VETERANS."

Seajay Update #2

Seajay called me just a few minutes ago. Sad to say that they had to amputate his right leg above the knee. The surgery was done yesterday.

I said, "Wow! yesterday, are you in pain?" He replied, "Morphine is good."

It was a decision that he had to make. They told him that they could fuse the bones and his leg would be stiff. He had talked with some other amputees who informed him of the wonders of modern prosthetic equipment and he would be able to do just about anything except play football. He made the decision to remove the affected part.

Next is recovery and physical therapy, so if you have it in you say a prayer for a speedy recovery and back to a normal lifestyle.

God bless Seajay.

You're right there Wayne, they have come a long way on prosthetics.

Thank you for the update. Seajay is in my prayers for a speedy recovery. Even though I've never met the old Salt, he sure has my respect.
