I'll bet you could go over to the UK (or anywhere else), interview 100 people, pick out the 20 most idiotic, and make a film just like that.

Unfortunately, this situation seems to be the norm! When our schools fail to teach and the students refuse to learn, this is the result. There is so little respect for learning in this country, as well as some othe nations around the world, and we wonder why we get answers such as portrayed in this video. It is sad when one considers the money that is spent on public education, and these stupid answers are not limited to high school dropouts, but some college graduates may have been asked questions for which they didn't know the answer. A test was given to college students in Florida a while back, and many of them couldn't find the locations of well known cities on a map of the state - sad, indeed!

Guess you can't expect much from a generation that spends so much time playing video games, texting, playing games on the iPhone & listening to rap music.

Hey - easy there, I'm doing all that now and I'm retirement age. I blame my parents. And I blame this generations parents too. Ya let wild things run wild, they stay wild.

I'm currently a public school teacher and my biggest frustration is that no matter how poorly a child does, to include just not even trying and getting into constant trouble, we are not permitted to fail them. They get socially promoted. It does not catch up to them until they hit high school where credits count. I like to say the schools fail the students because the schools can't fail the students.

The one I think bothered me the most was the white guy who appeared to clearly be in his late fifties or sixties that didn't know how many world wars there have been.

But they

were all pretty pathetic.

Pathetic, really pathetic. Yes, I think it is typical. Next time you are in a line and there is a younger "now" generation in front of you, start up a conversation and ask a question.

I did that once to a teenager. I ask if they knew what Gettysburg was. They did not know. Much of the history that was taught to "our" generation is now passed over for newer history.

Nothing new. David Letterman has been using stupid people answers on his show since day one. But it is not getting much better. However, I would love to know how many hours of taping it took to get this piece. I also think reporters often look for people who they think are going to be interesting to interview.

Schools now don't teach the Constitution and if the do they skip some of the Amendments as irrelevant today or some text books leave the out completely.

There is a supposed comic goof who does a similar thing on Canadian TV and his producer told a group of us at a gathering that they would shoot for hours to get the few minutes they used. It takes a lot of stupid to make top dog on Canadian TV and this Mercer guy is stupid.
