Shining up the boat

I'm not on any boat forums so I will ask this here since we all polish up our MHs. We are getting ready to dunk the boat this weekend and doing some much needed clean up after it has been hibernating under shrink wrap for the winter. On the advise of a friend at our winter RV snowbird CG that owns a body shop we cleaned it using Softscrub. That worked fantastic but you have to go easy with it. Next we polished with Flitz, a great polish and a random orbit buffer. She is starting to look great! So is there any reason to do another coat of polish? It is looking good so should we now just put a coat of wax on?

It is a lot of work but a friend just had her 21' boat done by a detailer to the tune of $300 and we have the time. It is also kind of satisfying doing it yourself. The boat is a 23' Wellcraft Spyder Nova with a 454 Mercury Bravo and through hull exhaust BTW.

do you wipe it down after every use? We had a ski boat and our fishing boat and after each use on both we wipe down with vinegar..it shines them up and it takes off the scum from the water, works perfect , never needed to wax it after the initial waxing.

We keep it at a slip in the marina that is across the street from us so it is not easy to wipe it down. This year we have made an oath to pull it out on the trailer once a month and give it a good going over.
