I did notice that your motorhome was missing from its normal spot.

We're going to the launch and will be staying at The Great Outdoors. We usually stay on Windsong Way...
We will be in on Wednesday and stay thru the weekend.

I don't think we'll be driving over to the east coast for the launch. Instead I plan to find an elevated location with a clear view to the East somewhere along US 301 between Zephyrhills and Dade City.

I know it won't be as spectacular as being closer, but any glimpse will be worth it.

Some years ago we were travelling down I-95 in northern GA and saw a Shuttle go up just before dawn. WOW! Even at that distance - a tremendously bright flame on top of a column of white.

We were down there when the shuttles restarted in 05. We went down Route 1 below Titusville and parked our car in the parking lot of Dogs R Us. They charged $10.00 and then if you went to eat in the restaurant after the launch you got you parking fee back off your bill. The first launch was cancelled but we ate there any way(food great). After that we went to Kissimee to vist some friends and stayed in a park there. When the shuttle was rescheduled we drove the car back to the same place and watched it from there and again had an outstanding meal (more than I could eat). If I ever get back down there for another launch I'll go back there for the view and the food. It is really about the closest place you can get and the sight was outstanding. Hope you all can enjoy it as much as I did.

Well we saw the launch, absolutly terrific, had the Thursday delay, so we decided to stay over until Sunday. Glad we did.
If you are in the area try to take on in, we were on US 1 north of Rt 50 parking lot of Paul's Smokehouse, parked facing the launch pad.
Also a very good restaurant.

We were staying on Plantation around the corner from Windsong. Very nice Resort, had a good site. Wish it would have been a little warmer.

Although we live on the west coast of florida we can see the shuttle launch ... still amazing that you can see that thing from 150 or so miles away

We were at Disney World in the Magic Kingdom and saw it launch just over Space Mountain. It was awesome. Everyone in the area we were in stopped and watched. You could hear cheers and yelps and even some crying (OK, that was me). It was beautiful. The sky first just glowed orange and you could not tell what it was. Then, just over the peak of Space Mountain came the bright orange ball. It slowly made its way higher and higher. Then, two red lines parted away from it as the boosters were dropped. We watched until it was totally gone. This happened right after the parade and before the 9pm fireworks. Who needed fireworks after that!

I went out after the launch and I could see it here is eastern NC. It looked like a slow moving comet here changing from red to blue. I did not stay out long as it was very cold outside.

As we were in Zephyrhills, FL watching it head off to the north east our daughter called from eastern PA. They could also see it lower on the horizon to the south east. Incredible!

I can remember the very first Shuttle landing back in 1981. It was on Tuesday, April 14...and when the big "Silver Bird" touched down, my DH and I were in the recovery room looking at our 2 year old son who had just come out from open heart surgery. I can remember thinking at the time "What's the big deal about a space ship landing for the first time - will you look at my little boy who just survived an open heart procedure??" LOL.. so I have fonder memories of the LANDINGS!!

PS.. I am still in awe of the Shuttle AND my son!
