Sink hole at the Corvette Museum!

We stopped here at least twice when the boys were younger and even did the factory tour across the street.

Since Mammoth Cave is only a few miles away, not surprised that there is a sinkhole but can't believe they didn't see anything during excavation for the building.

Probably was no sign of it when the museum was built.
We have had record rainfall in KY this year, and a lot of little underground drain ways have eroded into large drain ways, and subsequent sinkholes.
What was under there originally, was probably a few inch diameter tunnel that has been eroding for the last 30 or so years since the museum was built.

The museum was closed when this occurred. Thankfully.

How awful. As a fellow classic car owner (66 GT Conv), when I saw this on the news, I just gasped. Thankfully, no one was hurt. I hope they can recover & restore the cars.

The museum isn't all that far from Mammoth Cave. I wonder if the cave system in that part of KY goes father than they know & what else might open up someday?

I know where you can get a vintage Corvette cheap (needs some body work).

Or maybe even higher price than it was because now it has some history

No private owner's cars were damaged. They all belonged to GM or the museum.
