Well, on the 15th of Feb, I had rotator cuff repair of the right shoulder. For two weeks now I have been in a pillow sling. After 3 days I was able to take it off to shower, but mobility was impaired so DW had to wash areas I could not reach. I fibbed on a few places I could not get to - if you know what I mean. That only lasted a few days. I can just push illness so far and then she gets wise.

Now if you are right handed, have someone tie your right hand behind your back and for two weeks do everything with the left hand. Reverse it if you are left handed. I did pretty good, but I can tell you that I ate a lot of food with a spoon instead of a fork. It's a heck of a lot easier getting those peas into a spoon than on a fork headed toward the mouth.

Today was the two week follow up visit and the sling is no longer an albatross.

I can type with both hands extended over the keyboard, so;

STAND BY.

Seajay, I'm fair game again so you can lay off Mick for awhile. He needs some rest.

I hear ya Wayne, I'm a bit younger than you, but my days in The Corps gifted me with 8 nice pieces of metal where prior I had none lol. I think I read your laundry list of things you cope with and it had me feeling VERY lucky for mine.

Wayne, glad to hear that you are almost ready for duty. Keep with the therapy and it'll be fine.

Looks like your wing couldn't even take the "Just do it 'til you need glasses" part eh?

Enjoy the rehab because it feels so good when its over.

Wayne the Marine.
one. It's good to have you back even tough you are still crippled a little.
two. Even the dumbest Sailor knows how to eat ''peas with a knife''....
A. First, you mix the peas with your creamed potatoes. This makes them stickie and they will ''clump up'' in the creamed potatoes and they are easily picked up with your knife. (you guys notice I am using small words for Wayne the Marine to read?)
B. USE A DULL KNIFE. Otherwise you could sneeze while you are eating and stab yourself to death and then My Navy would have to pay to educate (learn) another guy that could not pass the test to get into My Navy to be a MARINE.
C. This is why My Navy would not let Marines on the ship use a fork. They would lose an eye or ''gaff'' their own nose or stab themselves in the lip.

Good to have you back Mr. Marine the almost Sailor Man. Take care and be safe and try not to hurt yourself while you learn to eat with your right hand again.

God bless our Marines and all other branches of the service in the defense of this great nation.....

Seajay,
You imagination is fantastic. I'm sure it got you out of the bilge duty a few times. 'cause most Chiefs would fall for your stories.
