Small town America...

I recently was in Whitefish, MT, for several days (due to the smoke, you COULD see Flathead Lake if you were in a boat on the water...) and I noticed the a Police Blotter in the local paper--some examples:

A Marion man pocket-dialed 911
Someone had questions about their neighbor's chickens
A screen went missing on Shady Lane
A Kalispell man wanted to see if a sheriff's deputy was interested in joining him on a trip to his ex-wife's residence--not interested.
A Kalispell resident was concerned that his neighbor was preparing to dig a hole on his land.

And on, and on.

Probably not anything like Chicago, thank goodness....

For a reality check on a daily basis I read the daily news from a small town in Northern Michigan and my home town in Northern Wisconsin. Sometimes the most simple things bring a smile to my face. Sadly needed in these days and times.

Then I read USA Today, Reuters, and Yahoo news and brace myself for another wonderful day.

We live in a fairly small town in S.Oregon and just last night while walking the dog with my wife I said it sure is nice living where we do an be able to go out at night an not worry about some dufus popping out of the bushes an bothering us. I would hat living in a place like LA or NY city.
