You may remember the YouTube video [snipped/wm]

Well, a rock star with a vintage Gibson just flew to Detroit, He went to carry on his baby (Guitar) but they said "no you have to check it"

Same song, different airline.

I have friends who fly with guitars, One tells of watching the baggage handlers load the plane, They would toss in a suitcase and another and another finally they tossed in his specially built ultra tough guitar case.. The entire plane shook with the force of the impact. then they tossed in more suitcases (no shaking).

He got off the plane, claimed the remains of his guitar case, The guitar survived that one (Special case designed with baggage gorillas in mind).

I know many folks type musicians and all of 'em travel with guitars, and all those who fly tell much the same story of rough handling of musical insturments.

Somehow I did not see the entire post in your reply but it showed up when I quoted. I snipped out the video.

The video you showed does not compare to the talent of the video in the OP.

Great video Wayne. I can play Oh Susanna, does that count for anything? We spent one winter in the RGV. There is a lot of talent wintering there. If ever there you must visit the "Chickenhouse" music barn near Mission. Many older/retired musicians play there. One night the backup player for Boots Randolf was playing his sax. Guitar players_ WOW! Only in my dreams could I play with them. A few left-handed pickers in the RV park did comment on my Fender Dreadnaught . Can't play it now, arthritic fingers.

When I was in Okinawa I bought a Yamaha Acoustic. I can read music so I bought a "cheat sheet" book. I used to sit and pick the melody. When we got back to the states my youngest backed over the guitar one evening when he took it to the beach. Never bought another one.

Bought the younger son a bass guitar when he was 15 while we were in Oki. He would sit in his room every evening and spare hour playing to the music on the radio. after about 3 months he started playing gigs in a CW band as the bass. He does not like CW, but in 1979 he was making $10 a hour so he put up with it. When he was attending a junior college here he played upright bass and was a featured soloist about every night the played in a Jazz Ensemble. He was a bass fill on some local albums. He progressed to guitar and is quite proficient, not like the video, but still good. When he was working for me in the 80's I sent him to the New Orleans area for about 3 months work. He came home playing some mean blues. He still plays, but only for himself. His job now is as a police dispatcher. He is good enough to play in any band, I just wish he had followed his music. His present guitar is a Taylor made. He spent 5 and 1/2 years in Iraq and took the Taylor with him. He had to buy a humidifier for it. It survived - as did he.
