Are you referring to FICA and Medicare taxes??? Because those of us who are receiving Social Security benefits did not get a cost of living adjustment for 2016.

Sorry, should have explained a bit more. I saw it on last night's news. Yes the cost of living is not going up but every trip for groceries seems to cost us more. Guess I am too dumb to understand such things.

The gov't removed fuel and rent/housing costs from the COLA base. Those are the two things that go up the most so now they can say that the cost of living hasn't gone up even though it really has.

Let's not make this a political conversation as our Community Rules specifically prohibit this. Here's that section.
  • General discussions of politics, general government policies, weaponry, gun rights and religion are not allowed in ANY areas of iRV2. Discussions about current or pending legislation or regulations, weapons and religion that directly pertain to RVing are acceptable but will be closed or removed if they wander off topicor become disruptive.

You are absolutely right. This entire thread does not belong here. I apologize.

It's not yet political but will soon be when members start responding. Thus far informational because I did not know about the 2017 SS & Medicare changes.

Link says a .2% increase of COL for 2017 maybe.
If it is then anyone paying for Medicare at the $104.90 rate now that has been retired for a few years, will see it increase to $105.10

Looks like I will get $3 more a month after Medicare increase.
Knowing now gives me time to plan on how to spend that extra $3 a month.
Wait that is before the taxes that will be due on it. :(
