Some days you just don't win.....

Today I cried for a kitten that I never got to hold, she probably never had a name. Nor do her other two siblings we are trying to catch. She hissed and growled with all she had, even at a few months old and probably 3 pounds. She was totally feral and the plan was for TNR...trap, neuter and release. But it was not to be, the little one had Feline Leukemia so we put her down.

I so wish people would spay and neuter, I have 6 feral cats that I currently care for, I have managed to TNT 3 of them, 3 more to go. At one time I had 17 but they all disappeared thanks to a fisher. I have 4 rescues in the house-people drop them off and we find them homes, if they cannot be placed we give them one.

So I cry for this little one and most likely will repeat that process with her 2 siblings.

I know there isn't anything anyone can say and truly I'm not preaching, just hurting. Please spay and neuter.

Firm believer in TNR. Feral Fixers in DuPage County Illinois have TNR'd almost 8000 ferals since they began. What a wonderful organization!
One of our cats is a Feral Fixers friendly rescue, she's a terrific tuxedo cat!

We just rescued a Weimaraner Thursday evening. About 3 years old, her teeth need a good cleaning & looks like her left front leg was fractured & never treated. We go to the Vet on Monday to get her fixed up to spend the rest of her life with our other 2 dogs. It kills me to see so many animals that are mistreated or thrown out when owners get tired of them. I firmly believe there is a special place in Hell for those folks.

You did what you could do. Unfortunately they all can't be saved.

Thank you for your thoughts and sharing your stories. We have rescued for quite some time and know that for every one that is lost we save many times that many. Campingcajun....so very true, there are too many and I too hope that there is a special place for those uncaring people. This winter we found a white cat frozen to the road, she lost her front leg. She was tossed out in the bitter cold because her owners tired of caring for her, she was totally blind.

One dog and eight cats, all the cats either rescues, feral mother, kittens, or found on transmission after drive (one of them) What's that noise I keep hearing? . . . the rest was history. We're such suckers. The ones we take in the motor home are all chipped. Thanks for all you do!

DW came home from work, pulled into the garage and shut off the engine. I immediately heard a sound, while at the same time she was telling me about a strange sound. I raised the hood and listened, heard a faint cry, looked around and between the battery and R. fender was two eyes looking at me, big as quarters. I got my welding gloves and removed the young cat. We fed her some warm milk which calmed her down. From that day forward "Lucky" followed me around the farm like a dog. If I mowed the yard "Lucky" would follow me, behind the mower.
Dang I miss that cat. She died of old age about 7 years ago.
We decided to never own another pet after her.

We trapped another of the kittens, got her spayed, 2 more to go....mama and another kitten. So the traps will be running full steam again this weekend, I need to go pick up our other trap, it was out on loan. I thank heaven that there are good folks like you all, to care for all the creatures. BTW-I did not make it clear....we had 'Bumble' the blind white kitty with 3 legs all patched up and she has a home.....and I think she has a facebook page!
