So I'm a member of one of the popular social networks, and I make a statement in my status that goes something like, "Wow. Just saw on the local news that gas prices is EXPECTED to hit $5/gallon by this summer".

(Remember, I just got my first MH less than a month ago).

Of course, I get shellacked with replies like,

"Just how big is your RV's gas tank again ?!?! That one's gonna hurt"

"Good thinkin on the RV"

etc., etc.

Really people ? Are those remarks truly necessary ??

You probably told everyone about the great new RV. Did you really expect any different response? Where is your sense of humor?

I find the internet is quite full of people who aren't worth the by products of a bull.

Yep, the world is full of them.

I hope the network wasn't Facebook. I think that would mean all these people were your "friends". Even so, I've got some of the same kind of friends.

Just roll with it and let 'em sit in front of their TVs.

My wife gets that treatment at the gas station when she fuels my truck. Holier than thou types ask her "What does that thing get, 3 miles to the gallon?" Their jaws drop when she tells them 16 city, 21 highway, which is what she gets with her gas powered Focus.

People don't do that to me, at 6'3" and 260 pounds, perhaps they are intimidated?

There have even been some with this attitude known to frequent RV forums... although not this one of course.

They're not hard to spot and just need to be ignored.... but it can be really hard

Who cares what they say. You have a Motorhome to enjoy and they don't. My sons have RV's and once a month they take a long weekend to the beach which is one hour away. The fuel for a one hour drive is no big deal for a nice getaway.
Call their bluff and tell them, "It sure would suck to be poor !"

I used to get that, but I noticed it stopped after I put the NRA stickers on the truck and camper . Or maybe skinny hippies aren't quite as brave to try and smart mouth a 6'4, 350lb man dressed in carharts and steel toed boots?

If statements like that are all that bother you, then you have a good life. If it bothers you then don't set yourself up by making statements like that. Don't sweat little things said/done by little people.

There are people who live their lives promoting this petty class warfare thing. Sure gets old though, especially when a certain segment of our countries politicians use this strategy to get people to support their agendas. It's heartbreaking and sickening!!

(sorry....just had to get that out!! )
