Stomach Acid Building

We have been planning the downsizing of our lives for some time but now. We've sorted through all the clothing, household furniture, appliances and special things and scheduled the moving sale for this weekend (what a nightmare organizing that, and I don't think we'll be ready). At the end of this month we are also scheduled to close on the dream home we strived for, and was finally blessed to purchase, during our 33 years of marriage. As all the "stuff" walks out of the house to people we don't know and leaves empty holes in the home where we became the gathering place for family at Christmas and other holidays I am almost overcome with sadness that this home is slowly becoming a house again. I am a bit apprehensive about the new life but look forward to it at the same time.

We will still be working full-time for the next few years so enjoying retirement will have to wait just a little longer.

Will you be fulltime RV'ing or downsizing to a smaller house?

If you're moving from good memories to a dream home, I gotta ask why you aren't ecstatic with excitement and anticipation? Those memories will never leave you, and your dream home will serve to make even more good ones.

We were considering full-timing right away but still having fulltime jobs and the harsh winters kept us from doing that. At the last moment a small place was offered to us that we could pay cash for. It's nothing much but, it's a place we can fix up while we truly transition to full-timing. We will be living in the 5th wheel for a few months, bouncing from campground to campground, until the place is livable. We were able to keep one bed, a love seat and chair, if that gives you any idea how small it is. We are hoping living small and simple will help us make the final transition to the 5th wheel. It's kinda tough going from an acreage to a place that barely accommodates the house and 2 cars in the drive. The upside is it only takes me 10 minutes to mow and it's paid for.

I think it's all the stress involved and running short on time to get it all done. We're still excited but the stress is stealing some of that and the memories that come back while walking around an empty house. We were the gathering place for family holidays. We are, however, looking forward to visiting family now during the holidays. I think our 8 yr old granddaughter is taking it the hardest as she has always considered our place home.

that's the thing about memories.....there are new ones being created all the time. It's up to you to decide if they'll be good or bad. Change is scary and I think that's probably what is bothering you more than the memories resurfacing. Just look at it as a new chapter with new stories, new memories, and a new purpose.
