Just west of Yuma on I-8 at Buttercup recreation area. I'm sure you've driven by there.

Thanks Dunner. Makes me homesick... sitting here watching the rain in New Hampshire.

A few years back my sister in law called at around 5:30 am so she would be able to still get the nite rate. Asked me if I was asleep, I said no, had to get up to answer the phone.
When I was working in hospitals while in USN, a guy came to me and asked " what could you give me for a cold Doc? I'd look at him and say" a dollar is as high I will go". then walk away. Of course I always treated them, but loved the "expression" on their face.

Am a retired college professor. Have heard and been asked many memorable things over the years.

One of the most common is the student who informs me that he/she missed one or more class meetings and wants to know if I taught anything "important" on those days.

Sometimes my response was, "When we realized you were absent we became so depressed that we cancelled class." Or, I might just tell the student "a big life secret": that we never cover anything important in class ....

While checking out a retail store, the clerk asked "can I have your phone number?". I replied, nope I'm not through with it yet. The people in line behind me giggled, the clerk.....not so much.

Most posts on this thread are done with humor in mind I'm sure.
But there appears to be a lot of crabbies too. Just think, if a stupid question is the worst thing that happens to you in a day, you're lucky...

After telling someone that I had returned from racing a sailboat to Hawaii, I was asked what we did at night, I replied that we usually checked into the closest Motel 6, but every few days we would stay somewhere. Nicer.

Recently a couple stopped and stared at our 18 1/2' fiver. He said " I have never seen one that short, was it custom built?" I considered telling him we have to here in Canada for our short roads but decided to be polite.

You should told them you bought it for the kids, but they do make adult models.
