suggestions for cooling entire motor home while traveling
Hi everyone, I'm relatively new to our motorhome, but I was wondering if any of you seasoned vets out there have any idea of how to cool the entire 27feet of our motorhome while traveling. The grandkids start whining about how hot they are while traveling. I have the front ac turned up so high, the front passenger and I have icicles dangling off us by the end of the trip. Help!

That's the key, use the generator to run the house A/C while traveling. In warm weather we always run with the generator and house A/C. The dash air is designed to keep the front passengers cool, there's just not enough power there to cool the whole interior.

Another vote for generator and roof air. Keeps you cool and give generator exercise.

gen keeps the fridge cold, water heater hot, and family cool with AC. Very economical!

This is very good to know for me too. I bet hubby already knew it but I am trying to see how much I can learn on my own. Anything I miss I can learn from him as we go.

Well, if you have a Prevost bus you can use over the road air or bus air but the rest of us use the generator. I have 3400 hours plus on mine now. It keeps the coach cool even when we are driving in 100 degrees plus. The dash air helps the front passengers with the heat load from the windshield

If it's that hot, the generator and roof airs will be necessary. Open windows travel will be like traveling in a convertible with the top down, OK for two days in the spring and two days in the fall.

Here in Florida, it gets hot and humid in the summer. I have found that running the generator and roof air, along with a small fan or two works well. The trick is to start early enough, before it gets too hot. It is far easier to maintain a temperature than it is to cool a rig down. I hope this helps..

ditto on the generator/roof air and dash air we also replaced all our curtains with ones with heat reflecting backing and put them up to isolate the overhead compartment from the rest of the coach.
we can keep it quite frosty and still get 7 mpg pulling our toad,the generator only burns about half a gallon per hour so it is pretty economical
