This coming Monday at 1pm I will be undergoing "revision" and 'fusion' surgery of left ankle/foot joints.
June of 2016 I started having numbness in left foot after standing on it for couple hours.
That progressed into extreme numbness/pain with shorter durations of standing on it.
Feb 2018 I had surgery to fuse two joints in ankle/foot....tibia/talus/navicular.
That entailed 13 screws and 2 plates.
2 months of non-load bearing then 2 months of PT.
Due to issues with bones fusing also used a 'bone generator' (stimulator) for 180 days.
Unfortunately besides non-union problems I developed pain in calcaneus (heel bone) joint. Tests confirmed it had degenerated and would need to be fused.
SO finally on Monday the Orthopedic Surgeon will remove the old screws/plates, redo the two previous joints (grinding/chiseling), grind/chisel the new joint issue, add bone paste to joints and then POUND a 12" Spike up thru heel/talus bones into the tibia and anchor it top/bottom with cross screws thru tibia and heel bone
Minimum of 3 months NON-LOAD Bearing followed up by PT, bone generator treatments and PRAYERS!
Average full recovery is 10-12 months so hopefully by Christmas 2020 I will be footloose and dancing the jig
Those episodes when you were 20 yrs old....some starting with "Here hold my Beer" WILL catchup and come home to roost ----but I did have a heck of time growing up
Thoughts and prayers would be appreciated>
