I recently purchased a table top icemaker for the mh, makes a lot of ice and quickly, only problem is if you leave the lid closed there is a plastic smell and taste. I have tried baking soda , I have tried vinegar, but nothing seems to get rid of the smell. Anyone have a solution to this problem?
Thanks
Buddy

Might try washing it with vanilla water. If that doesn't do it, try wetting it with regular (not Diet) coke.

Would suggest wiping it down with the vanilla extract (No artificial stuff) and then washing it down afterwards. As Dick Noble suggests. A baking soda paste also might help

Do not try to clean any of the metal parts with anything caustic as they will iodize right away and it will never work again.
Vanilla water on plastic might work, but that metal hates anything but water so treat it accordingly.

I have 2, one for my boat and one for the RV. Never had any problem with either one. Maybe made in China??

Ours gets a weird but not really plastic taste after much use and being outdoors. A very small amount of plain (not scented) bleach works good. The cubes or maybe "drops" is more what they look like will taste like a swimming pool at first so toss them in the cooler and run through a couple fillings of water. Filtered water helps too.

I'd be interested in what brand everyone has. I was looking online this morning for one.

I'd have to look and I'm too lazy to go out to the toad...it's whatever Wal Mart sells.
