Takeout Tipping
I'm bothered by takeout places (pizza, fish fry etc) that put a tip line on the receipt.
I'm fine with tipping when served, but cashier tipping when you are just picking up a to go order feels like I'm being shamed in to paying for something that I'm not get ---service.

Tipping is for service. There is no service for take out. Draw a line through the "Tip" section, and bring the total down.

I think the receipt that you're seeing is "generic" in nature... it prints that way if you're picking it up, or if it's delivered to you..
Personally... I DO NOT tip if I am the one driving to get the dinner...

I've seen tip jars at places for this purpose and I find it ridiculous. I agree tips are for service and that is the only time I tip. I worked as a waitress and worked hard for my tips so I tip well.
I have seen tip jars at clothing stores in tourist areas and there is NO way I will tip any of them.

Somebody has to make it, prepare it and present it. I see nothing wrong with tipping if they do a good job.
Having said that, I hate tips printed on a receipt. Tipping is voluntary.

Around here some of the sit down restaurant's are adding a nice feature with 15, 20 and 25% tip already figured. You just need write the amount in and total it. BUT a couple of them take the percentage of the bill INCLUDING the sales tax. Usually adds about .50 to the total. I cross them out and write in the correct figures.
BTW, here in WA the minimum wage for servers or fast food workers is the same as I make per hour or $9.47 but servers get to keep ALL their tips so they can make $30 to $40 an hour.

Tips are for service, the price you pay is for the product and preparations

Those may be considered convenient, but it's backfiring in my area when it comes to coupon use (rewards BOGO's or Groupons). One is supposed to calculate earned tips on the pre-discounted meal price. Yet with these receipts that list the amounts for common tip %'s, they're showing those amounts post-coupon. I'm betting a lot of people are using those pre-calculated tip amounts & therefore shorting that wait-staff well earned $$. That's too bad because there's a lot of those folks who bust their butts to give great service & they're getting short-changed by something intended to make tipping easier for the customer.

Tipping is rediculous. Include everything on the bill . There is a push to abolish tipping with restaraunts advertising a no tipping policy. It will catch on and good service will be maintained by decent wages without tips.

That might be but we ALWAYS figure the before coupon/sale price, but NEVER the after sales tax to give tips.

One restaurant did just that, BUT they raised the all prices 34% to make up for it. We'll just skip those places.

I absolutely tip for great service, but not for takeout...
I will typically tip 20% as I used to do the waiter thing,
BUT, that percentage goes down quickly if the service is sub par...
I started that when they all went to tip sharing...
when I did it, I got MY tips, which were substantial because I stayed on top of it...
why would I want to share my tips with joe smoe over there that has to be told 5 times to bring water ?!?
oh, and the places that automatically add a 15 - 18% tip ? I be sure and tell them they lost some tip, by forcing a number on me

In our restaurant the tips are shared equally between kitchen and servers.
