TappanZee Toll
We crossed the TappanZee Bridge (NY) eastbound this morning. Hadn't been across that bridge for about three years. Figured the toll may have gone up a bit so I had a $20 bill at the ready. Uh-Uhh. Got to the toll booth and a very apologetic toll taker asked for $24.75, the four axle price. They don't collect westbound so I guess you could say that's a roundtrip charge, except we're not going back that way.
Hope they spend some of that toll on repaving the roads around the bridge...

One can only hope. The toll on the TZ bridge is almost like an instant heart attack!
The last I heard (?~rumor~?) they we thinking about tunneling under the River but I don't know if that is anyway true or not.

I live in the area and have found a few ways to avoid the Tappen Zee. Bear Mountain and Newburgh Beacon bridges are only $2.00 (once for round trip) for my van and travel trailer combo. Yes, a bit out of the way but much less traffic and nicer scenery.

We are planning on going to Connecticut next month and if we do we'll be taking the Newburgh Beacon Bridge.
