Hello WaveMaker Not sure exactly which route we will be taking, yet. My only problem is there's so much to do, and s-o-o little time to do it. Would like to do it all, eventually. ....Brad

About how many weeks will you stay in Texas? That way we could give suggestions on a long list of sights and lots of miles, or a whirlwind tour gotta see type of list.

Hello TwoBit, Will probably be there around two weeks, with a week travel, so a total of three weeks. Nephew and neice are in Brownwood, so points of interest in and around there would be great. Heck I wouldn't even mind a side trip to the Gulf.....Brad

A trip to the gulf coast from Brownwood will be about six hours one way. It is a big state!

I kinda thought the trip was farther than that. Probably well worth the drive and time, seeing though we'll be that close.

The lake is really nice there in Brownwood also but if you have a boat be sure you ask questions about where not to go. Some people find out the hard way. You can be out in the middle of the lake in 60' of water and next thing you know you have hit bottom. Have fun there it is a GREAT town

Not sure if I'll be doing any boating David, but thanks for the "heads up" With approx. 250,000 Lakes in Ontario, being a former boater, we all learn to be super cautious when boating in un familiar water. We are sooo looking forward to our trip to Brownwood and places in between....Brad

In March the Bluebonnets (the State Flower of Texas) will be in bloom. Brownwood is just in the middle of some of the greatest areas to find them. They are just simply georgous.

From Brownwood you're not far from:
Abilene (they have an old west town, never been there, but I hear it's pretty good)
Austin (State Capitol) and San Antonio (Sea World - Alamo - River Walk)
Dallas/Ft. Worth (6 Flaggs - Rangers baseball)
Waco (Texas Ranger museum)

A small town called Dublin, where Dr. Pepper was first bottled. You can still get one there that is actually still manufactured with sugar instead of artifical sweetners. http://dublindrpepper.com/

We've made trips to Brownwood just to eat at Underwoods Bar-B-Que Cafeteria. It's been several years since, I hope it is still there, if it is, please try it at least once!

I hope this helps also.

Russ
