"Texas Peace Officer" is the title of all local and state law enforcement officers, and it is how they are designated on their state license. They carry a "Texas Peace Officer license". It is not a new term. Peace Officer includes; sheriffs, deputy sheriffs, constables, deputy constables, city marshals, city police officers, DPS officers, Texas Rangers, Game Wardens, investigators of county and district attorneys's office, Tx Alcoholic Beverage Commission officers, arson investigators, school district, college, and university police, airport police, medical examiners, some hospital district police, transit authority police, state fire marshals, and others I cant remenber right now. Federal Officers (FBI, ATF, DEA, Border Patrol,....) are not designated "peace officers", but have the power of arrest, search and seizure as to felony offenses of the laws of the State of Texas.

So all Police in Texas are Peace Officers, but all Peace Officers are not Police.
