BobKomar, I think it is the same guy. He was on General Eisenhower's staff. For me his books were easy reading unlike many "history" books.

Oregon is littered with Lewis & Clark sites and recreations. There's a national park up near Astoria dedicated to them with a recreation of their fort.

On Sauvie Island, where I live, there's a little marker sign denoting the area where they had a winter fort as well.

In Seaside, Oregon, there's the Lewis & Clark salt works, where they boiled salt water down to produce salt for storing their foods.
