Oh yes... one more thing... if you ever hear "TAPS" played at the lowering of the US Flag.

it is because the people directing the ceremony don't know that it is the wrong bugle call for a flag lowering ..

TAPS should never be played for the daily lowering of the flag each evening.

The proper bugle call for a flag lowering is called "RETREAT"..

"Retreat" is a simi-lively tune compared to Taps.

Another bugle call that is (or should be) played BEFORE every bugle call except Taps and General Quarters (shipboard call to arms) is the very short four note tune named "ATTENTION"
(ta..tart..ta..tah)

Thanks for the input on TAPS true or not, it always sends shivers up my spine. I visit to Arlington to see the changing of the guard, and a evening visit to the Vet Nam wall, will also leave lasting impressions.
