The old days the way we were raised

I was raised to help a person broke down on the road.To help a women change a flat tire. If there was an accident to stop and help anyway you can. That if you owed a pickup truck you would loan it out to neighbors. That if a neighbor was gone or old to mow there yard. To open a door. To give your chair to a women or older person. If someone died in the neighborhood to bake or bring a meal to the family. Most of all treat people the way you want to be treated. So what happened to people now most only care about themselves. Never say excuse me or pardon me
This world and times we are living in are not the same as days gone by. It seems that people have lost manners and plain old common sense

Not all of them. I still do all these things. They make me feel good. My favorite is to do something for someone else and don 't get caught.

About 12 years ago I was injured in a work place accident so I now use a cane or scooter to get around. I now see things from a different side. Don't Get me wrong there are still people who are kind. but I see now from another side
Like people who park in a disabled parking space when they are to lazy and not disabled.

you can blame it on lawyers who will sue for any reason as long as they get their percent ,that's why no one wants to get involved in anything anymore.
for fear of being sued their helping hand caused pain and suffering

srzak you were raised the correct way and the same as most of our generation. Society has changed and I suppose we with it but that doesn't make it a better place.

I tend to disagree with you a bit on the handicap parking, although I admit there are some who unfairly take advantage.

If you saw me in one of those slots you would likely think that I am not disabled. However if you looked at my medical record for the past seven years you will wonder how I am standing up. Not all disabilities are obvious.

You guys should move to McDonough GA. It is still that way here. Of course there are some bad apples, but most people hold the door for you and say thank you when you open it for them. When a neighbor dies the kitchen is so full of food you can't get through. I am 72 years old and in great shape, but my neighbor always cuts my upper acre yard when he cuts his.

Another thing I will add especially on this Mothers Day. I was raised to take care of the old folks. I have my 85 year old Mother camping with me this weekend.

By all means I believe anyone with a disability plates or sticker has every right to park in a disabled parking space. I mean the punk who Parks because he does not care. Or the family member who wants free parking. I once went to a place and a contractor put a trailer in the disabled parking space. I do think what goes around...

Do unto others as you would have
them do unto you,
but do it first.

When someone holds the door open for us, or me, I say, "Thank you."

When someone does not hold the door open for us, or me, I say, "Thank you!"

Or is it that too many parents think it's more important to live in the nicest house and drive the most expensive car than raise their kids? Too many kids are raising themselves and doing a lousy job. The values and morals are not getting passed down.

All babies are born thinking the world revolves around them. Thru maturity and the lessons that adults are supposed to teach, they grow up and learn to consider how their actions affect others. If mom and dad both work and spend hours each day commuting, those important lessons don't get taught and kids grow up thinking the world revolves around them.

I agree with the OP that times have changed, but that's what nature intended for all of us - everything must change. How we perceive change can affect the quality of our lives. So, to the OP - try to find what is good about people and enjoy what is left of your changing life.

And if it is a child that holds the door open, one of us will say, "Thank you very much. That was very nice of you."

Give me hope.
