Interesting article, the way it's presented, you see the photo before the location. Many could be guessed by the decor or name. I've been to a couple of the places on the list, the Golden Lamb in Ohio deserves it's listing. Some of the places are probably surviving less on great food or service and more on their reputation or historic noteworthiness.

I have these sites bookmarked for exploration when in the area:

Cattlemens Cafe in OKC still looks the same. The food is still the same, outstanding!

No, a pop-up invites you do join, but if you click the 'x' it disappears and you have access to the whole article.

I never had the pop-up, but I run Ghostery and that may be why I don't get the pop-ups.

Example: On this web site there are three trackers, DoubleClick, Google Analytics and Quantcast. None of them are active on my computer because of Ghostery software.

I find it interesting that the weirdest thing in Rhode Island is about the oldest tavern The 1 Weirdest Thing You Never Knew About Your Home State. However, the oldest restaurant Oldest restaurant in every state and DC there is not the tavern. Then, there's the list for oldest bars...makes me wonder how they define bar vs restaurant - White Horse Tavern is on the oldest bar list. The White Horse Tavern | Serving Hungry Newporters since 1673

Didn't the White Horse Tavern stop serving food for a long period of time and the building became run-down and had to be "re-done?"

I guess any report on statistics is what the writer wants to have as a base line.

Been to the one in Kansas and in Connecticut. Don't remember the food in Connecticut, but Hay's house was pretty good... not fantastic though... might have been what I chose.
