That's all part of the plan..... NASCAR is looking for a more "affluent" race fan. I did read where NASCAR is allowing the manufacturers to have a say in (some) of the design of the (new) new car for 2013 but overall the cars will remain clones of one another.... It's also good to see NASCAR enter the 1980s with the throttle body fuel injection.

Powered by American Ethanol?

In my opinion using food for fuel has not been on my top 5 list of things that I would like to see pursued especially to make a sport of it. If E15 makes it to the pumps anytime soon ... rut roh!

Why is it that my motorhome runs better and gets better MPGs using no ethanol? There's gotta be something to not using ethanol or finding an alternative to using food. The NASCAR people are selling ethanol just like they pursue the "race on Sunday and sell on Monday" practice that has popularized the sport.

You left out the adjective,"ignorant" in your description of the fan NASCAR is looking for, and catering to. As a long time fan of NASCAR racing, in my opinion, newer fans haven't a clue of what real auto racing is all about, or once was. NASCAR has taken the "sport" to Madison Ave. and Hollywood in order to grow the sport to the huge business it is now. They have totally disregarded the older fans in thier quest to do this. Cookie cutter race cars, and "movie star" drivers just doesn't do it for me. Again, just my opinion.

Two things that to me have always been boring. NACAR and Indy 500. Same ole looking cars going in a circle mile after mile. If you really want to see racing Go to Europe and watch the european road races Now thats a race. I realize every body cant goto Europe but just sayin..

Last summer I was at the "Thunder in The Valley" drag racing event held annually in Port Alberni. During a lull in the action a group near us started talking about NASCAR and the old series where the divers drove vehicles purchased from dealerships. I mentioned the Daytona races where the drivers at one time raced on the sands of Daytona Beech and these youngsters (late 20s early 30s) all looked at me like I was demented. The fans now a days have no real idea of the history of the sport they froth at the mouth over.

The cameras will not show empty stands nor will the commentators talk about the lack of attendants at the NASCAR events.
