...know, understand - or appreciate:

Their loss I'm afraid - those truly WERE a better and more innocent times - and yeah, *I* remember all of them!

Good stuff, we were the lucky ones. The best part is that we appreciate it.

They undoubtedly missed a few - any of you used to play Frisbee with old coffee can lids - the ones you removed with that little key?

Speaking of which - here's a neat pincushion a friend of ours made from the thin coiled metal strips that came off with that coffee can key - I wonder how many of the younger generation here even know what I'm referring to...

Gary,
"Thanks for the memories." And who made that phrase famous.

Loved it. Thanks for posting it.

However, DW wanted to let you know in CA (where she grew up in that era) they used playing cards to make the motoring sound on the bicycle wheel spokes. I guess her parents gambled a lot.

In WV (where I'm from) we used baloons.

When I tried to watch it, my computer shut it down due an embedded code and Malware said ...no good.

YUP - strange how easily we managed to fully entertain ourselves so cheaply in those days - nowadays, it's nearly grounds for charges of criminal neglect if parents don't provide their kids with expensive TV's, PC's, and various cell phones and related electronic gadgets.

Can you imagine giving one of today's kids a coffee can lid, and telling him to go outside and play...

And for any who might suggest that today's generation is far more educated and sophisticated, just look at what generation put footsteps on the moon - and which generation amuses itself murdering it's classmates...
