Whew!! We don't live in any of these states. I am surprised New York and Massachusetts aren't at the top of this list. We will be based in North Carolina, not neccisarily one of the best, as long as our grandchildren are here. Could be worse.

I'm retired in California and love it. I can RV 365 days of the year.

You can save a lot of money freezing to death somewhere else but as for me...I'll be spending the kids inheritance going places all year long.

Actually NY is pretty retiree friendly. All social security is exempt and the first $20,000 of retirement income is exempt. If someone is getting any form of government retirement, that is 100% exempt. Only downside in NY is the very high real estate taxes.

PA does not tax retirement but MH has to be inspected every 6 months.

I read in the Grand Rapids Press that Michigan is considering taxing retirement earnings... Arch, I understood California taxed retirement earnings, did I hear wrong?

@black3504dr.....Don't know, don't care.

I've lived in 6 different states across the country and visited all 50 states, 48 of them in our RV.
I'd never move out of here, especially for tax reasons.

Our average power bill is $98 a month for 12 months. That includes gas and electricity. Everything balances out if you consider all the expenses involved for everything.

No snow and seldom does it get below freezing, that makes for a nice environment.

Downside # 2) It's dang cold up there!

I'm originally from Missouri and started my law enforcement career there, well, I started my career in the Army in Panama, so I started my civilian career there. I was working in -20 wind chill outside. Now that I've got rods and screws in my back I can't go back to those winters. Brrr... I'd claim to be hurting thinking of it, but that's be a lie, I hurt all of the time. Now it's degrees of pain.
