Agreed! However, most people will be too busy texting to see it.

In Texas you would be assuming that they could at least read and then read English. The sign would have to also be in Spanish.

You're assuming they can read in any language.

I live in Northwest Indiana near 80/94; the signs here are ignored. When working in Illinois I regularly had to avoid semis trying to merge INTO me!! We ALL have to be prepared to deal with the least common denominator of intelligence that they allow to drive..

Yes but lack of intelligence doesn't always equal illiteracy, just saying What I'm getting at is don't lump one group of people together because of a bad experience with people from Texas, or across the border. (End of soap box)

We had a terrible accident here in BC in the Dease Island Tunnel because a licensed truck driver was unable to read the warning signs telling him that a lane was closed and that he should be prepared to stop.

I think at times North America has become too politically correct to tell the dofii that they must learn to read /write in English in order to get a license to operate huge machines

No, I'm not assuming. During the short stint I had working at a convenience store to supplement my pension, I found out first hand that many immigrants can't read, even in their native language.

But in Quebec are the road signs still only in French? The last time I was there it seemed like none of the road signs were in English.
