Talk about over use of the word epic see this post Cooler Gets Turned Into an Amazing Pirate Chest the writer also manages to get the word awesome in.

I admit the cooler cover is nicely done but certainly miles from epic or awesome.

I have a list of words too that I think they ought to retire, if not ban outright.

What's up with new words like selfie, hashtag and Obamacare? Where does this stuff come from?

And then there's all the acronyms - DILLIGAS, DBEYR, OIC, TFH, MHOTY, and on and on...

The english language is a mess. It's crazy. Please just stop it.

Just as bad as over-used words is over-played music. If I hear Pink Floyd one more time on the radio, I'm gonna take my radio down to the station and smack the station manager with it. Their favorite line is "music that stands the test of time." Yeah, like right. It is what it is. It's not mind-blowing. Like, it is just so yesterday dudes.

"No Problem" as a response instead of your welcome, yes, etc.

I agree with this 100%. Other lazy responses to "Thank you" are "yep" and "uh huh".

It would be legen .... wait for it ... dary, if people would stop using the word literally. I mean I literally would like for people to stop using it - as most of them have no idea how to use it properly :-)

These words and phrases are usually used for two reasons. The person is REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, REALLY trying to make a POINT. They won't say that something is REALLY, REALLY REALLY important. Instead of Awesome they will say "Totally awesome." The second reason is their vocabulary is limited and they can't come up with an accurate word to describe their feelings. Here's another word that is used for the two previous reasons. OUT

Here's how it is incorrectly used. I changed out my oil. When you change your oil you have to take it out and put in new oil. It is not necessary to tell us that you took it out. Nor is it necessary to say OUT/IN either.

I changed OUT my batteries.
I separated OUT my laundry.
I filtered OUT my wine.
I changed OUT my underwear.

If you carefully listen/read to the average persons vocabulary you will notice many, many times when the word OUT is inserted and it is completely and totally unnecessary.

You can review many of these threads and find this over and over and over. It is very common in the news and on most talk shows as well as movies. It has been accepted and is part of the use of the same words that have been listed on this thread. Words used to emphasize a point concerning a topic.

I totally agree that it will never change.

Life will still go on and even if the words are not t/o/t/al/ly (completely) correct we will probably still understand.

Please don't use that. Makes we want to gag.

Lots of recent phrases such as "give it up" should be banned. What happened to simply applause or clap? "Just saying"... At the rate it's going, in a 100 years from now, you won't even recognise the language any more. Who makes up this stuff up anyway??

People can't even spell their own names right anymore. Like Caryl, Jaysen, Mykel and Jayn. How hard is it to spell your own name? Good grief.

Heck, someone even tried to change the spelling of Jesus:
http://http://www.usatoday.com/story...medal/2965195/

Today I've even got this forum telling me that I've misspelled a couple of common words. Grrr....
