Got my curiosity up so I searched it on the internet and it does have positive effects on cholesterol and diabetes. Eating jalapenos that is. My bud CMSgt B. would eat one chopped up on his salads or on a burger or what ever he was eating.

Think I need to buy a jar and start that regiment as a preventive measure.

We were in our motorhome visiting family in Jan. 2013 when I suddenly could not speak coherently. I knew exactly what I wanted to say but what came out of my mouth was gibberish. No other symptoms, no weakness, no paralysis, etc. DW called 911 and I was quickly taken to a stroke certified hospital. My speech cleared up perfectly within about 20 minutes while still in the ambulance.

Bottom line, MRI revealed a very small stroke (infarct) on the left side of my brain. I had multiple tests; carotid artery scans, cardiac echo.... all normal. I was kept overnight, put on Plavix and went back to motorhome next day.

Plavix and baby aspirin every day, along with cholesterol lowering meds. I was blessed.

Had my first mini stroke in 1996 at the age of 41, tunnel vision and weakness on the right side. Doctor told me to quit smoking and take an adult aspirin daily at bedtime.

Had my second mini stroke in 2012 this time was just the weakness on the right side. Told to reduce stress and continue on taking the adult aspirin.

Still have some numbness in thumb and forefinger and around the right side of my mouth.

I had a major stroke four years ago this February was taking a a baby aspirin a day walking a mile a day blood pressure had always been fine was at the Dr. The day I had it cholesterol had always been about 190. Found out the artery on the right side was 100% stopped up and some plagued broke loose. Killed an area the size of a egg on my brain. Luckily have made almost full recovery thanks to some great doctors and physical therapist. My cholesterol was very high the day I had and bloof pressure was high.
