FBI stats show about 765,000 full time LEO's, and another 100,000 part time. Charges were brought against less than 400 Officers in 2014. Of course those incidents were widely publicized in the media. With the media and a divisive segment of our society fanning the flames the police are seriously under attack.

Thats only for the "Good" cops. There are still many "bad" cops that hide behind the thin blue line. And there are many chiefs and district attorneys that continue to protect them as their actions are with in policy guide lines. Just recently in Orlando a man on the curb on his back was KICKED several times after being tased but it was "sanctioned" and the officer was cleared of any wrong doing. It seems some officers just do not know how to be "professional" in my line of work (insurance claims) had I been un-professional I would have been looking for a new job or career. By the way spent 38 years with the same company and retired 5 years ago.

"many "bad" cops" - One, is too many. I never had any problem firing a bad cop. And I took great pleasure in recognizing those that met and surpassed the standards of good policing.

The Thin Blue Line has nothing to do with the good cops protecting the bad cops. It is a figure of speech representing the thin line of officers wearing blue that protects the good people from the actions of the bad.

The public needs to know that the media thrive on bad news not just cute pandas and celebrity gossip.

Unfortunately most police work involves bad news of some kind so what we have here is a symbiotic relationship.

Respect goes a long way and it works best when its mutual.

Folks need to ride with officers a couple of Friday nights to get a fuller picture of what they do and what they endure...it is so easy to speak negative...they are expected to be perfect in every action or face the media and Lord knows who else. Most of us would not work a job that gets the critique these folks receive.. Gottcha is a way of life today...It is now being supported that our service members indeed suffer all kinds of health issues from their time spent in war zones.. We need to realize our law officers operate in war zones in many cities and perhaps some so called bad cops are suffering from years of service...you would not believe what they see...I for one will stand with them....GlenB

We back the true blue

Not the former security guards or loss prevention officers who decided to amp up their ego trip. Police work is 99% PR, 1% muscle. Train them accordingly.
That is all, stand easy!
