Tom Johnson and Camping World

For those of us in NC and SC that trade or have service with Tom Johnson's Camping Center, Camping World is posed to acquire this business. This information came to me by someone not authorized to speak about it.

I have enjoyed them for years, nothing stays the same.

I sure hope you are wrong. IMO, CW seems to turn most everything they touch into something I can't write in this message .

For us, TJ's has been one of a few really good dealers/RV service centers anywhere near us. I know TJ's has been looking to expand their over taxed service center in Concord but the expense is staggering. Perhaps that might figure into a sale to CW.

If true, that would be sad. We were really happy with Tom Johnson's, both for the initial sale and with service we've had done there since.

In California, I visited SkyRiverRV in Dublin. They treated me very well. They spent two hours with me in the test vehicle driving around and had me practice parking the rig. The sales process was very straight forward, honest, and relaxed. Unfortunately, I don't want to float a loan on a new Newmar.

doesn't TJ own a lot of the camp sites around the NASCAR track there?

I hope that fails to happen also. I have had service done on the coach @ TJ's and they did a very good job. Seemed a little high, but the techs there need to make a living, too. I would probably refuse to let CW touch my coach.

I think the campground is owned by the speedway or Bruton Smith

Camping World RV sales leases the business. For instance, the legal title of Camping World of Indianapolis is Stouts RV dba Camping World of Indianapolis. I suspect the rest of the CW RV sales stores are the same setup.

Not necessarily true, CW built a new store near here and set up camper sales at the same time. Other dealers are still in the same area except one. They went out of business and a year later CW started using their facilities for body shop

Sorry about that, I thought this thread was about an existing business.

TJCC's announced this to their employee's last week, seems like it is true. Charlotte area will be loosing a good motorhome dealer, hopefully CW can keep their customers happy in the area.
