Our prayers go out to Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, D - AZ and all the victims of this insane shooting spree and the people and child that lost their lives today in Tuscon, AZ.

19 people have been shot and at this time 5 fatalities are reported. A Federal Judge, John Roll is also listed as a fatality.

it seems now the shooter was upset about improper grammar and language in his state.......

especially concerning those who choose not to assimilate themselves into our American way of life, but remain truthful to their home country...and want us to give them special favors???

Rep. Giffords is recovering after surgery in the ICU. Her head wound was a through-and-through with entry from the temple area. The surgeon said he's 'as optimistic as I can be in this situation for a full recovery.' He could not comment about her mental capabilities post injury. One of the injured, and reportedly killed was an Federal District Court judge, John Roll.

Only 120 miles from my home in Mesa, AZ

A sad day, and a sad person who did this thing.

Candle light services will be held at the capital building here in Phoenix "I think right now", were to have started at 6 PM.

The fatality count has increased by 1 to 6. It is reported that the Congresswoman was struck in the temple and she was the primary and intended target. The perp was arrested and a suicide note was recovered from his pocket. There may be a 2nd accomplice. The details are still coming in.

IIRC, such a temple wound will result in cutting of the optic nerve, leaving her blind. I pray for complete recovery.

Our prayers are with everyone involved in this tradgedy. I cannot fathom why any individual would sink to this type of action. There are many non-violent ways to protest for or against any position or statement in government or in life. My hope is everyone will consider their opposition in a peaceful manner, and show some respect to the other side of the situation.

I don't think, by seeing the ramblings of this disturbed individual, that he had a political bent one way or another. Again, warning signs were there but no one paid attention to him.

Well said. We can debate, we can argue but there is no call for violence.

I could not agree more with your statement! It's truly sad what has happened to our country the last couple of years. What's happened to respect for our fellow human beings? It was obvious there was a big problem brewing when people started purchasing warehouses full of ammo after Obama was elected. I thought seriously about getting armed at that time, but now it's painfully obvious that we all need to be armed to protect ourselves from the crazies! I've never really felt the need to be armed but I do now! I'm sure everyone on this board knows a lot more about the latest in firearms than I do. I hate to say price is no object but I am willing to spend whatever it takes. What do you recommend?
