Travel warning

Warning... Avoid Zepata TX. We were unfortunate enough to have mechanical trouble with our Chevy Truck in Zepata TX in January. The locals were very eager to help us.. Loose our shirts. We asked that the shop wire a 5th wheel harness on the truck and install a electronic brake controller. We were also having issues with the truck loosing power. The shops were all too busy to "spend 4 hours installing a wiring harness" they were very accommodating when they sold us a $95 non working electronic brake controller. They fleeced us a few hundred dollars replacing the fuel pump and filter, in the process damaging the U joints while dropping the drive shaft to install the fuel pump, a completely unnecessary procedure! They also managed to cut a new brake line on the front of the truck and bend the automatic adjusting clip on the rear brake both of which are on the opposite side of the truck from the fuel pump and filter. All in all the local economy gained 2 nights lodging, and about $600 in parts, and none of the issues were solved. We did manage to leave the town with no injury and were lucky to not have any issues with the brakes despite the cut line which we didn't discover until arriving home. Just think what could have happened with a cut brake line hauling a 10,000 lb 5th wheel!!!! Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere, even if you have to limp on down the road, it frightens me to think about what could have happened. We will certainly not be voluntarily returning to the area

Don't let your situation end on this web site alone. Inform Good Sam, FMCA, BBB, City Hall, RV Service Review. It may not help you other than to vent but it might help others.

Is the problem with the town of Zepeta or the repair shops?

Multiple shops and parts stores in Zapata, all of the shops refer to each other
